Chuck -- Back 11 but no more Scott

thank you to @_baylink:
We have just received the news that Chuck has been picked up for the back 9 PLUS TWO making season 4 a 24(!) episode season! (that's rare!)

As noted in a recent post, Scott will not be returning. We are not sure whether this means that Papa Bartowski will simply not come back to life or that Scott will not appear in any way, including flashbacks.
Televisionary's post on this topic (Chuck, not Scott) contains a link to NBC's press release.

This post was composed while my bunny was binkying around me like crazy! Guess she likes Chuck too!

DVD -- Chuck Season 3

Apparently today was the release date for Chuck Season 3 DVDs. I forgot. I'm sorry. I hear they are sold out in lots of places. I was up to my knees in a mythtv upgrade debacle when it came across my twitterfeed and I forgot to go back and check. I'm sure there will be more if your store doesn't have them today. I just completely forgot.
Please note -- when The New Adventures of Old Christine is released, I'm not going to notice at all. I didn't last year. (Was it last season Scott was in it, or the season before?)

Interview -- Scott Bakula talks #Chuck, Men of a Certain Age, #Trek

Star Trek Interview with Scott Bakula
Chuck
I had a ball on the show. They have a great bunch of people over there, including a lot of Enterprise people, which was fun for me also. I thought the scripts and the character were well written, which is what got me over there. I’d been a fan of the show and continue to be. Zac Levi leads a great group of actors over there and we had a good time. When they called me to come back and get killed they explained to me what they were trying to achieve, and the idea was that my death would help this young man grow up. They wanted to shock Chuck into that, and killing his father seemed like a good way to do it. I think they executed it – pardon the pun – very well. I think it played well and I think it had a profound effect on the series and on Chuck. I’m curious to see where they’ll go with it.
Quantum Leap Movie
This is all I know. I have spoken with Don (Bellisario, who created the show) and he’s been approached by a producer to write a script and produce a Quantum Leap film. He’s intending to do that and has begun work on it. And my understanding is that Dean (Stockwell) and I may have a small cameo element to the movie. But it hasn’t been written yet. So we’ll see.

Television - News - 'Chuck' Bakula 'won't return to show' - Digital Spy

Digital Spy is full of crap. They scream "SPOILERS" - but they PUT THE SPOILERS IN THE HEADLINE.
I apologize for the spoiler of telling you the Chuck's dad Is Really Dead, but there is no way you are going to miss this (especially since they put it in their headline) unless you step away from the Internet, TV, radio, and print media (billboards are probably safe) AND NEVER COME BACK until the show is canceled.

Reminder -- Scott on Chuck, Monday night

Scott will be on the 2 hour season finale of Chuck tomorrow, May 24, on NBC from 8-10pm ET.

Also, Chuck has been picked up for a 4th Season (thank you, Chuck fans!) of 13 episodes. Please get your friends to watch. Fan activism got us a season 3, and now we have a season 4, but the ratings are still not that great and generally, the reason the show was picked up was that NBC is in a post Leno at 10 fiasco and doesn't have a lot of hit shows anymore anyway. No one watches NBC, no one sees promos on NBC, no one watches *more* NBC. It's sorta like being on UPN! Only sadder....

Upfronts -- Brief Comment from Scott

I've been so busy this week that I didn't even consider that Scott would be at the Upfronts in NY, cause, when I think of Upfronts, I think of major broadcast networks.

I also admit to not reading my google alerts - I thought they were all about Chuck. I have skimmed the headers at SBFF and satisfied myself that Scott is not about to appear in a Broadway Play or Benefit or anything else you are about to miss, so here is one of the quotes from the upfronts (and remember - Chuck tomorrow at 8pm ET on NBC - two hours. There will be an automated reminder tomorrow before 6. I hope. It depends on an auto-tweet and Twitter talking to Blogger. Hmmm... Maybe not. I think Blogger talks to Twitter.

Men funnyman Ray Romano closed the upfront appearing with his co-stars Scott Bakula and Andre Braugher and joking that although his show may not attract the youngest demographic, he and his cast were still going to "keep it real."

"So I'm gonna get a rash and you're gonna get a groin pull," he said to Braugher.

Request to Scott fans

The ratings for Chuck last night were... significantly "less good." We therefore request that you watch the show live (the networks get bigger ad dollars to live than for DVR ratings) and try to get your friends to watch. The more viewers we have, the better our chances for a 4th season (and Schwartz & Fedak blessing us with more Scott.)
thanks

Interview -- More from the Chuck Phone Q&A

NBC confirmed a while back that Scott Bakula would be around for one of the later episodes of the season. Is there anything you can say about what he's doing or additionally anyone else that we are familiar with that might be making a return appearance before the season's out?

Joshua Gomez: He's doing awesome work I can tell you that much. Get Scotty Bak.

Zachary Levi: I know this is a spoiler and we're not supposed to talk about it but it turns out Scott Bakula is my dad. Yeah, I don't know. He really is doing fantastic work. I can't even tell you how much I love Scotty Bak. That guy is not only super talented but he is so fun. Like he's like a little kid like... You know, we'll just break into song or do funny voices and but he's such a pro like just like to a T. You know, just always on his moments, always diving into this character, Steven Bartowski who is very odd and kitschy and quirky and brilliant and, you know, and he brings it every time, every scene and it's such a pleasure to work opposite him. And, you know, and Josh gets to work with him as well so it's nice when you have a guest star that, you know, kind of traverses both the spy and personal life.

TV -- Three Eps of Chuck Confirmed by "NBC Rep"

Okay, I'll buy it now. The NBC rep is unnamed, but he did say the word "three." :-)

Can you talk about what Scott Bakula is doing this season?
Gomez: He's doing awesome work, I can tell you that much.

Levi: I know this is a spoiler and we're not supposed to talk about it, but it turns out he's my dad. He really is doing fantastic work -- I can't even tell you how much I love him. ... He's always on his moments, he dives into this character of Steven Bartowski, who's very odd and quirky and brilliant. He brings it every time.

How many episodes will he be in?
Levi: Can we say? I believe he is doing three episodes at the end. [An NBC rep confirms that Bakula will be on three episodes "in the very last part of the season."]

Chuck - 2 eps or 3?

While we were on the phone this afternoon, reading the internet to each other (I swear) there was a phone press conference with people from Chuck and a few people said Scott was going to be in three episodes, 17 thru 19, but Scott had said 2 and last year he said 3, and was in 19-22 but not 20, so I'll have to read the summary and see if 17-19 actually means 3 episodes or it's an assumption. Stay tuned notes from chucktv.net
Scott Bakula (or “Scotty Back” as Zac calls him) is 1) awesome, 2) prone to break out in song on set, and 3) appearing in episodes 3.17-3.19.
